A love of beauty

Anyone who visits Japan will come away with an appreciation for the Japanese peoples' love of beauty. The charming flower arrangements, the elegant tea ceremony, the exquisite kimonos, the lovely presentation of meals, the cultivation of flowers everywhere, all testify to this Japanese characteristic. Here are some instances I encountered on my recent visit.

Flowers on a Harboro shopfront, grown by the shopkeeper

An attractive presentation of food at a Bento shop in Sapporo

Futons laid out in a bedroom

Children dressed in Kimonos in Nakashibetsu

Covers put on by a sales assistant at Sapporo bookshop at no extra charge

A pork shop in Nakashibetsu. I first thought it was a park.
