On a previous occasion in 2008, after the disastrous cyclone that hit Burma, the UN and Western powers dragged their feet in coming to the rescue of the Burmese who had been completely neglected by their authoritarian government. An air drop or a naval supply of food and other supplies would not only have helped the starving people but would have also humiliated the murderous Burmese Generals, making them lose face and weakening their grip on the country.
I am no admirer of President Reagan, but he acted swiftly when Libyan agents bombed a nightclub in Germany in 1986, killing two American servicemen. Reagan bombed Gaddafi's compound with the intention of killing the dictator.
A few air raids on Libyan air bases and the Tripoli home of Gaddafi will do the trick. Just do it.
